Of course a lot of their friends had cars handed to them on a silver platter but I don't think they appreciated it as much. But alas reality keeps me here working etc. DARN REALITY.
We didn't let our kids drive until they could afford to buy a car and pay the insurance. Better to teach them early than for them to expect hand outs for ever. I have a friend who is still partly supporting their 30 yrs plus son. They still won't tell him no. Stupid stupid stupid but that just my opinion for what it's worth.
BarbaraAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1066131320029765111.post-66460647194292388542007-06-29T19:12:00.000-07:002007-06-29T19:12:00.000-07:00I admire your resolve to make responsible adults o...I admire your resolve to make responsible adults of your children. I wish I would have done things like that when I was their age......oh, I couldnt.....I got pregnant and married at 16!! Oh well, I travel enough now to make up for it and more!!! We don't buy her extras either, if she wants them she has a job and uses her own money to get them. Honestly, it has made her more apprecative when she does receive something out of the blue.. it's no longer expected which I like about the situation. Growing up is a hard lesson and sometimes tough parenting has to step in.
Wow the kids are traveling alot.
