back to myself this morning!

Well I back to my usual self this morning.

I actually have to leave the house today and do some running around. I need to go to the bank, go get gas and then go to wal crap. How did I get so far behind on all of my errands?

I am hooked on the show called the unit. I just love that show and I was telling Rusty last night that I wish I had some girlfriends that I could just be close with. Instead I am mom to countless boy's and for that I am grateful!

Does anyone know what a body kit for a car is? or how big of a box it comes in? I now know. One of the marines had one delivered here! LOL So it is sitting in our hallway. Lord help us if there is fire.

Yesterday I kept getting text messages from another marine. I am not able to do that whole text thing very well and it does take me forever. Finally I just called him and asked him if he needed anything. He said no I am just bored!

I am debating about cooking dinner tonight. I cooked Rusty a nice dinner last night and he said that he did not feel good so he just are a sandwich. Maybe I should do left overs one more night?

I was thinking about the people that have sponsored the girls for their trips, and I got an idea. I am going to type up a form letter and send them out to every v.f.w. in Riverside county. I am also going to send one to the first marine division. I am not sure what type of response I am going to get, but I will never know if I do not try.

I am in need of some starbucks, so I am going to go start my day.

Before I go I would like to say a big hello to some new people who left comments for me!

http://journals.aol.com/aceofhearts13/sullyerna/  This is a very handsome young man!

http://journals.aol.com/madmanadhd/ConfessionsofaMadmanInsightsinto/ I stopped by and I really enjoyed this journal!

I am sorry that I do not know them by first name yet!

hell hath no fury like a women scorned

I just got an email from my mother asking my she has not heard from me in a while. Do I need to explain myself? If I did here is how the letter would go.

Mom, I got your email, and you do not know why I have been in contact with you. Please let me explain myself to you.

While I was in grade school you made my life a living hell. No matter how many times I cried out for help you told me to suck it up.

When I want to go to Europe for 6 months you told me to go earn the money, and yet you sent your other daughter to London on YOUR dime. Then when I told you that I was not coming back to the states and that I wanted to stay in Europe you had a cow. Dad ended up calling me and threaten to come get me if I did not come home.

Your chosen child got married and you gave her $10,000. Let me see what did I get? oh that right I got nothing.

I gave birth to Amber, your first grandchild, and you could even be bothered to ask if we needed anything. Oh, yes I remember that you sent me a bouncy seat and some cloth.  I had no crib, no diapers and no money.

When we did come home for a visit you went to a yard sale and bought Amber a crib to sleep.

Then when I said that I wanted to come "home" to have child number two you acted all excited. When I asked you to please leave the birthing room you would not. I want to give birth to my child alone, Oh no you just would not listen to me.

I started to file for divorce after Nikki was born and you talked me into trying to save my marriage. So I stayed married to man that beat the shit out of us.

When Nikki was about 6 months old you told me that we had two weeks to find a place to live. Now lets re cap here. I had just gotten a job, and I had no child support or anything else coming in. I did not even have a car.

I went and found us a rat and roach infested apartment, but WELFARE was paying the rent on it!

A few years later your chosen child got pregnant and not only did you give her a baby shower and buy her a crib, you bought a brand new crib for your house.

You even offered to raise the chosen child, child! Hello what about me!

Over the years when I needed a pat on the back you were never there for me.

Lets fast forward several years. Rusty had a heart attack and I asked you to come out. I told you that I could not afford to fly all of the children out to you, but that I would pay for your ticket. You told me no.

Dad is not doing well and you asked me to come home. You told me that you told him that I was on my way and to hold on. I am so glad that he did. I needed that time with you and him.

Instead of asking what was wrong and why I was crying so hard that I could not breath you just told me to go for a walk and calm down.

When I did confront you about how you have chosen to treat the girls and I and you just put your head down and said nothing.

When you came out for Christmas I thought we were having a great time. Until we pulled up at the airport and you told me that you are leaving everything to your chosen child. Oh that's right the children and I can whatever cash is left over and all of that must be divided 6 way.

Then I hurt my back and you bitched about me not going to the doctor and even said I told you so when I ended up at the e.r. I have no medical insurance!

I am done being hurt by you. I will warn you, hell hath no furry like a women scorned. What you do not know is that over the years I have been paying attention and asking questions. Once you die I am going to unleash my furry on your chosen child and I am going to make her wish she had never been born. Remember when you said that you would never tell the chosen child who her real dad is. Well I will. I will let everyone know about all of the property and the money that you left her. I will make sure that she looses everything.

I am not going to send this letter. I am just going to at like I never got her e mail.

Oh! I need to say something positive right now.

1. I am so thankful for my mom because she has taught me how not to treat my children

2. I have an awesome man who loves me

3. I have three of the best children in the world.

tattoo's and money

I guess I should start with the tattoo. Yesterday afternoon Kevin and Dustin decided that I needed a tattoo. So they brought home some fake tattoos and gave me two of them. Dustin took this wet cloth and just soaked my jeans and under ware. We were all laughing and Dustin called Rusty and left him a message, so I ended up e mailing Rusty some pictures. Rusty was not happy! Later in the night when Rusty got home we talked about it. He was not mad if I had indeed gone and gotten a real tatoo, but Rusty was upset that I did not to him about it first. Rusty also thinks that I do not need a tatoo. O.K. that was a bad joke gone bad and I have learned two things from it. 1. I hurt Rusty. 2. I am so very lucky to have a man that loves me and he does not think I need body art.

As for the money topic.

Nikki went to high school orientation last night and she came home with a list of activities that she would like to do. That is fine and I do not have an issue with that.

My issue comes with trying to teach Nikki how to set priorities and how much every thing cost.

Nikki wants to do volleyball, o.k. not an issue for me. However volleyball camp goes at the same time she is suppose to be at my mothers. I told Nikki that she would have to choose. I was told that I was being unfair.

Nikki wants to do cheer leading. If Nikki makes the squad then the total for uniform shoes and pom poms is $750! I asked Nikki how she planned to pay for it, and reminded her that once she paid the money that she did not get that money back if she just gave up on it. I got the look of well aren't you going to pay for it?

Then Nikki wants to play softball. No issues there.

Nikki and talked about the whole money thing. I reminded her that she still has a missions trip to raise money for and that if she does make the cheer leading team then she will have to make the money for that as well. Nikki was not happy with me last night.

Here is where I am coming from. Yes, we could give Nikki all of the money that she needs. However will that teach Nikki the value of a dollar and how to work for what you want? Am I the only mom out there who does not just dish out money?

Yes, I want my children to chase their dreams and I am willing to HELP them. However I do not feel that we should pay for everything. Oh I do not know.

Today has been busy for me and I do not see an end in sight. I swear everything just crept up on me. That's o.k. I am just taking it one task at a time.

Yesterday I was asked what type of quilt I will be making and how in the world do I find time to do it. Well I am making a simple quilt for one of the marines. I really do not have time to quilt, but I just make the time and let something else slide. I enjoy making quilts, and so far I have made 7 quilts for marines, countless pet quilts (  I give to shelters) and all of the quilts for the house.

Well I hear four loads of laundry calling me, so I better get them folded.

a good weekend

Well on Friday evening we found out that the Veterans Administration would like to cut Rusty's benefits yet again. Rusty has said that he is going to fight this. He is going to fight for what he has EARNED. I do not blame him.

However we did not let that get us down. Friday night we all went out fort dinner and karaoke. Someone at the bar kept the drinks coming for everyone all night long.

Easter was nice. I cooked a ham, sweet potatoes, scalloped potatoes, and mix vegi's. Then we top it all off with root beer floats and smores by the fire.

Sam's parents came over last night. It was nice to get to know his parents. I really like them and they did a great job of raising Sam. Amber is lucky to have him as a boyfriend.

Nikki got a lot of compliments on her dress. She was so proud of herself and she should be.

Well dinner is in the crock pot..... ham and beans..... and I have just been doing some cleaning today. I think tomorrow I am going to start on another quilt.

Oh check out this song. I so love it!

good things happen

Just a quick note about something awesome that happened today. Nikki went and passed out her flyers in hopes of getting more stuff for her yard sale. Well she only got one phone call back today. This gentlemen called me and here is the conversation:

gentlemen: I am calling because Maureen (aka Nikki) dropped off a flyer at my house today.

me: O.K. what is your address. The gentlemen gives me his address

gentlemen: where is she going on her mission trip?

me: Nikki will be going back to Nicaragua this last. This will be the last year that the missionaries will be allowed down there since the communist party will be taking control this summer.

gentlemen: Our church does not send the youth on mission trips, but we do support missionaries. I hope that our stuff will help your daughter earn some of the money that she needs.

me: I am sure it will. Remember that the people that are praying and donating to her are just as important as the people going on the trip.

gentlemen: the stuff is stacked by the garage door, so come by anytime and get it.

me: we will do that.

I called Rusty and asked him to swing by this place since he was already out.

When they got home Nikki said "Mom not only did this guy give me some stuff, but he said that he spoke with you and that he went and prayed. Then he gave me some money and said this was all he could afford to give. He gave me $50!"

All I can say is ask and you shall receive.

free is good

Our weather has just taken a turn for the cold. I was sitting here just being cold, so I got up and looked at the thermostat and it was 70 degrees in the house, I turned that furnace on! Where has all of our sunshine gone?

Anyway, I was looking on line at some mp3 players because I was thinking about getting one for Nikki for her birthday. Can you believe that I found one for free! Three cheers for me. So I am going to have Rusty take a look at it when he gets home.

I was just pulling the banana bread out of the oven yesterday when Jake and his room mate walked in the door. They were like what smells so good? I swear these boys can smell food a mile away.

Last night all of us adults went out to drink and sing. It was a good time and I really enjoyed spending time with some of the new marines that wondered into our house. Someone at the bar was buying rounds for all of the marines, so they were happy to not have to spend any money.

There is not to much going on today. I have no desire to leave the house, so I have sent everyone off on their missions. Jake was sent to buy Ryan some new running shoes. Chris was sent to take Nikki around to pass out flyers, Rusty was sent to get a new filing cabinet, and the new guy Miles got up early and took Amber paint balling. Right now the house is empty and still. I shall enjoy these moments since I know they won't last.

Tomorrow I am making a ham for Easter/Christmas. Christmas since most of the guys were in Iraq last year. I figured I would kill two birds with one stone!

I do hope that everyone has a nice Easter weekend. Oh I am starting to warm up since the heater has kicked on.

banana bread

I got up this morning and was reading journals, when I got a sudden taste for banana bread. What is that about? I will have to go to the store and buy some flour, but I am going to make some today. It just sounds so good.

Anyway, earlier this week a made a morning to do list for Ryan. I must say that it is really helping him out. Now he gets up and can read his list and he knows what has to be done with out us reminding him every single morning. Now I am thinking about making out a weekly list and braking it down by days. Maybe this will help him to remember to bring out his laundry, take the trash cans to the curb.... and so on. I guess I am just hoping to help him become a little bit more independent. I am hoping that once all of this stuff becomes routine that he will not need the list any more.

Last night both of the girls were gone for the evening so Rusty and I spent so time just laying in bed and cuddling. We do not get to do that as much as we would like. Then Rusty says 'There is another rip in my blanket" I said" well if you can't take care of your things, I wont get you any more things" He just snuggled down into his blanket and said "mine, you made it for me". So, I will need to get his blanket mended this week.

Easter is in a few day's and everyone is talking about buying Easter stuff. Am I strange because I do not even celebrate Easter? I do not do the whole Easter bunny thing, or color eggs. Are my children going to be scared for life if the Easter bunny does not stop here? Oh well, that is just the way it has always been. Oh wait I have colored eggs with them a time or two.

On to another subject. Rusty and all of the boys want to go out tonight. So I am going to go out with all of my guys. O.K. they really want me to go so I can drive them home, but at least they are fun to laugh at.

Amber asked for some time off over spring break and now it has hit her what she has done. With her not working this week, her paycheck will be low, and her phone bill is due. Welcome to the real world dear child of mine. You must work to earn money, and to pay your bills. Amber will learn.

I have been thinking about getting my hair trimmed. I just need to find someone who knows how to cut natural curly hair. I so hate it when people will cut off more then I have asked for and then the curls kink up on me, and it looks even shorter. I will have to really think about this.

I guess I better get dressed and get busy doing something.
