health and PTSD

The marine corps times had an article on PTSD and how it is connected to health problem.

Well it seems that PTSD can cause strain on the heart which can lead to heart attacks. Really?! Does that mean Rusty's benefits go up since they have know about the connection? The article also said that depression and physical pain go hand in hand with PTSD.

I just wanted to share that! LOL I guess now we need to go back to the veterans administration and get Rusty's rating raised.

up late

Well the chili is in the crock pot and the bread is in the oven. So I think I have a few minutes before something else happens.

I did not get to bed until about 1 a.m. and then I got up around 6 so I am a little cranky right now.

I was up so late because I was waiting for our friends to drop off their dog. I so wanted to sleep but instead I decided to get busy and get some work done. So about midnight last I cleaned both of the toilets, wash the outside of our front window and did laundry. Oh here is a tip for everyone. When you wash your windows in the middle of the night just spray the heck out of them and wipe them until you think they are clean. I was shocked that they actually looked good this morning.

I still need to go take a picture of these shoes that Amber had to have. However yesterday she came home carrying her shoes! She said by fourth period her feet were killing her! Hmmm...... that was an I told you so moment! But we all know that you can't tell teenagers anything because they already know everything.

Do you wanna hear something freaky? Remember when we bought food for the boy scout troop? Well it turns out that Sam (Ambers boyfriend) was one of the boy scouts! Sam said that when they took the food to the people he was shock how happy they were just to have food. He said the people they helped did even have a tree, much less food. I am glad that Amber is dating someone who can see past himself, and help others.

I hope that Rusty is having a good day at work. This morning we were both snapping at each other. I got to bed late and he did not sleep good, so we were both cranky. Maybe having his favorite for dinner will cheer him up.

I am on the hunt for a really easy homemade baked mac and cheese dish. If you have one will you please send it to me or if you find one will you send me the link. I love baked mac and cheese, but I would like to try to make it.

The bread is smelling good so I better go check on it.

Note to self: after bread is done go take a nap so that you won't be grouchy when the children come home.

done for now

When I was reading everyone journals this morning I noticed a theme. We were all cleaning! I did no cleaning this weekend or yesterday. I did ask the children put away all of their stuff, but that request fell on deaf ears.

So I got up this morning and just started cleaning. O.K. it was not really cleaning. I just threw everything away. I figured it could not have been that important to them if they could not bother to put their stuff away.

Well our friends got stuck here another day. One of their sons fell and broke bone of the bones in his arm! So I am not sure when they are leaving. I will talk to them tonight and see if they need any help doing some stuff so they can get on the road.

Amber and her boyfriend are so crazy! Amber wanted these shoes, so she called around until she found a store that had them. Then she talked her boyfriend into taking her to get the shoes. They drove for two hours just for a pair of shoes! I think they are both crazy, and the shoes are so not that pretty. They look like something my grandmother wore back in the depression!

I found some old John Maxwell c.d's today. I need to listen to them again. He is such a good speaker and I really enjoy his self help stuff. When I listen to him, I find that there are so many areas of my life that I can improve on. Such as being nicer, how to make new friends, and how to handle negative people.

Tomorrow I am going to go do some work in the yard. I need to clean the fire pit, and sweep the walk. It is suppose to be nice tomorrow, so I am thinking the fresh air will do me some good. I also have a few errands to run. But today I am staying locked up in the house with the door closed. I just feel like being alone. I even turned the ringer off on the home phone! LOL I am such a house rat some days.

I am going to go cook dinner. Then all everyone has to do is heat it up when they are hungry. I have discovered that if I cook dinner during the day, it frees up my evenings and gives me more time to spend with the children.

Tonight menu:

fried cube steak, raw vegi's and some tater tots. Nothing fancy, but it works! LOL

good and sad weekend

We had some awesome friends over on Saturday and Sunday, but now they are gone. They are on their way to Iowa. Man, I miss them and I so want to call them up and just plan our next get together.

For the past two night's we have shared good food and good wine. We have made smores with the children, and laughed about everything. We talked about the past and what the future will hold for all of us.

Both of the girls had their boyfriends over and they were just in shock that we have friends that we love that deeply. I so hope that one day our children have friends like we do.

Last night was the breaking point. I hugged each of their children and told them that I loved them and to be good. Then we help get them strapped into the car seats. Then I hugged Ray and Sonja and I just started crying.

The girls were crying as well. how do you say good bye to such good people? the girls and I just hugged and had a good cry. Then Rusty came up and hugged me. He also told the boyfriends that now would be a good time to go hug the girls! LOL

I woke up at one a.m.. I was just so hungry and then I could not get back to sleep. I went and helped Rusty with some of his deliveries this morning, and now I am sitting here just trying not to fall a sleep.

On the way home from helping Rusty I was flipping through the channels and a preacher got my attention. He was talking about how to encourage people, even when you need encouragement. That preacher really hit home for me. I really need to do my best to encourage the girls to never forget our friends, and to know that there are more people out there that we can meet and get to know. They are hurting and I need to help them.

First I need to take some time to take care of me. I am going to go eat something and then I am going to go take a nap. I will be well rest when they come home, and I will be able to help and encourage them.

Maybe after the girls get home I will load some pictures from the past few day's.
