another busy day

Today was the first day of Nikki's garage sale and she made $94! I was very surprised that she actually got up and took care of everything. I thought that I would have to give her a little push, but she did good. we are still going to have it tomorrow and then anything that does not sell is going straight to the good will. I think we will have another yard sale in a month and this will give her more money to go for her trip.

I did manage to get some cleaning done in between helping out, but I really have not done anything, and yet I am so tired. Maybe I am tired because I had sex last night. We have done that in a while so maybe that is it? hmmm.... oh when we were almost done with sex we noticed that we had moved so much that we were about to fall head first in a dresser. We both just laughed.

Rusty has been working late all week so I am going to make him a special meal tonight. Maybe that will perk him up some. I don't think I am feeding anyone else or am I? Amber has to work, Nikki and her boyfriend are going to see a movie..... do I have to feed them or can popcorn count as a meal? Ryan will eat whatever. Yep that about covers it. I am really only cooking for Rusty tonight.

I really should be moving on. I have laundry to finish, Rusty's dinner to cook, and if I sit here to much longer I will fall a sleep. I will be in bed early tonight!

can you believe

I just these pictures.

Anyway, I have to make a run down to base today. Our friends that moved away left something at their old place and they asked me to get it for them. here is the problem. First of all Sonja left her uniform hanging in the closet! LOL She was trying to get the children settled and taking care of a child with a broken arm..... she just forgot to grab her uniforms. problem number two is, they did not leave me a key to the place. Usually they will give me a key or leave one. So now I have to break into their place. They told me all the ways to break in. I guess it is good that I do know how to break into places!

I am a vegan. I do not hide that fact. While my mom was here she pointed out to me that I was not getting enough protein. She is right. Not only do I not eat meat, but I also do not like beans. So I went on the hunt for some soy protein powder, and I finally found some that I am happy with. So I am sitting here drinking some o.j. with protein powder. Growing up my mom always kept an eye on my eating, and she would do whatever to get me to some protein. I never woke up and said I am going to be a vegan. I have never liked meat or beans. Does that make me strange?

I did get my nails done and they look so nice. Rusty really liked them when I rolled over this morning and started scratching his back with them. Rusty just snuggled down into his blanket and acted like the alarm was not going off.

I am not a reader. I do not like to read and I do not know if I would even have the time to read. However Rusty was reading this book and he would read it to me. It is call dumbing down our children. If you have a child in school or even a grandchild in school you should read this book. It is a real eye opener on how our school system is.

Please do not get me wrong. I am sure that there are some really good teachers out there. I do not blame just the teacher, I blame the whole system. My mom hit the nail on the head when she said "We started school at an older age, we were not expected to know our numbers or are abc's, that is what the teachers taught us. We had a shorter school year, and harder classes and our generation is doing just fine."

Anyway, I need to get on the road. I am going to go take some blankets to the shelter on base and then I think I am going to swing in and take hubby to lunch today. He will not be expecting that!

what to do

I have a lot that I should be doing today, But I just cannot find the motivation to do any of it. So I think I will just here and drink another cup of coffee.

Yesterday Nikki and I got out into the garage and started pricing the big items for the yard sale. I really hope that her yard sale does well, so that she will get a little taste of success, and really get out there and start fund raising. What I have not told Nikki is that someone we know is going to give her close to $1000 for the trip! That means she only needs to raise about $800 more. I know that she can do it!

I just so dred getting up and setting up for a yard sale when it has been so cold first thing in the mornings. BRRRR......

Ryans teacher and I are about to bump heads. I keep insisting that Ryan should memorize all of his basic math facts and she says that he does not need to do that " because he can use tally marks to figure everything out". So last night Ryan brings home math with regrouping and he cannot figure it out because he can't remember what tally marks he made for what problem. However if I just look at him and say Ryan what is 10 + 4 he can tell me. Then I will ask him then what is up with all of these marks? he will say well that is what my teacher wants me to do.

Maybe I am to old. I am all of 36, but when I went to school all of those math facts were drilled into our heads. Then again I also had a teacher that would walk up and brain dust and tell us to get back to work. Maybe it is another sign of the times.

I was just looking through some of the papers that Ryan brought home and I am trying to get a hold of the lady in charge of the running club at Ryans school. O.K. I just got a hold of the lady who is in charge of the running club. I am going to let Ryan have a go at running track. I think he will really enjoy it!

I so wish that there was more for special ed children to do. We use to have a baseball league for special ed children, but that fizzled out. So I am hoping that running track will give him something else to do and a way to be like other children. I guess all we can do is wait and see.

Well now I am in a good mood. I am so hopeful that this will work out for Ryan. I so want him to find something that he enjoys and something that he is good at.

Well, I guess I better get into a shower and start my day. Oh Rusty said that I could go get my nails done, so I am thinking about getting them done today. we will see.....

up and moving

I did not sleep at all last night! My hip and leg were killing me and I guess when you do nothing all day you have no reason to sleep.

So I drug my but out of bed and got busy.

Lets see, I got some laundry in the washer and dryer. ( bless Amber for trying to keep up with it) Someone gave us a bunch of left over chicken and turkey, so I am boiling that down, so I can pull it off the bones. ( the smell of food id still making me sick!)

We have been waiting for a phone call from some of our friends and it finally came in yesterday! We can start to prepare for the return of some of our friends! I just wanted to do the happy dance. Kevin and ross have been gone for a year and now they will be coming home. Note to self. Must get new American flag, new marine Corps flag, and must make welcome home banners.

Well I am going to go take some pain medicine and go soak in the tub. Maybe that will help my hip feel better. Then I need to suck everything up and start taking care of my family.

Thanks to everyone for your nice comments. I know that Rusty is sad that he may have lost a friend, but I am glad that I am not bottling it up any more.

crazy weekend

So Saturday night Rusty and I went out to dinner and the house guest from hell tagged along.

Right in front of someone I just met he says can you believe that she is married to this skinny fucker?

Then our dinner came and none of it looked good. So I ate the bread and passed one the rest of the food. Then he says what wrong you wont eat chicken now?

Then he leaves and Rusty and I hang out for a while. When we get home Ryan says to me "Amber broke your globe". So I sent Ryan to bed since it was past his bed time and I started cleaning up the broken class.

By now my blood is boiling. Here I am sweeping up glass and I have people telling me to leave it so that Amber can clean it up. I just continued to sweep up glass.

Then I lost it. I screamed " here let me take out the trash since no one else can see that it is over flowing. Here let fold the blankets that you threw on the floors two days ago. Oh here let me get your dirty dishes off the floor"

Then Amber walks in. House guest says Amber I want to talk to you. I told Amber to stop right where she was and to go to her bedroom and do not come out until morning.

House guest packed his stuff and left. Rusty is just in shock.

I feel really bad because house guest and Rusty have been friends for ever. We just went to bed without speaking.

Sunday morning at 1a.m. I start pucking up my gutts and wetting myself. I screamed for Rusty and he got me a wash cloth and helped me back to bed. I was up and down all night long. Sunday just sucked for me.

Rusty went to the store and got me some gatoraid, 7 up and jello. Funny thing is jello maybe green going down but it is also green coming up!

I was just begging for someone to make me stop throwing up.

I feel much better today, but I was ordered to stay in bed. I am glad that the children were off of school, so at least the girls were there to help me.

This morning before Rusty left for work we talk about the house guest from hell.

I told Rusty that I would call him, but that I wanted a few questions answered.

1. would he leave one of his only family members in harms way? That is what he did when he left broken glass all over the floor for our son or one of our pets to step on.

2. does he disrespect to his own father? that is what he is to us when he leaves his dishes all over the place and expects me to clean them up.

3. if he runs us down when we are in front of him, then what is he saying when we are not around?

I did call house guest, but he did not answer, so the ball is in his court.

This morning Rusty told the children in no uncertain terms that the house better be clean when he got home and that I was to stay in bed and rest all day.

The children did a great job and keeping the house up, but now I should be sleeping, but I cant. I could not believe how hard it was to sit on my lazy ass and do nothing!

I have a lot of stuff planned for tomorrow. I need to go to the store, and then to the dairy. I also need to start sorting out the garage.

We have been asking people for their yard sale left overs and we are going to hold our own garage sale to help Nikki raise money for her missions trip. I am hoping to make around $150 - $200. But then again anything that we make is total profit.

I will try to get back to reading journals in the morning.

Oh one more thing. Ryan was complaining because tomorrow he has to write something. Nikki says here let me help you get started " Hi my name is Billy. I am holding a knife. I am running tword you" only my childen! LOL

good question

Before I get to the question that I was asked yesterday I have to tell about my great finds!

I ended up going to wal crap yesterday and I got some awesome material! I was so excited that I found some dragon fly material. Not just one type of material, but two different types! I had to buy it to make myself some quilts. I know, I know I swore I was going to use up the old material before I started buying new stuff, but I just could not help my self.

Nikki is so excited because she found out some awesome news yesterday. Nikki will be able to go back to Nicaragua this year. She also found out that they are going to try to get a trip to Japan for next year. Nikki has want to get to Japan for such a long time. Also next year both of the girls will be heading to Peru with a medical team! They won't be doing any medical stuff, but they will be painting and stocking shelves, and playing with the children. Three cheers for Nikki!

I also found a juicer, but oranges were $1.50 a pound! So I still have not gotten my fresh squeezed o.j. The homemade mac and cheese was gross, so I am still on the hunt for a good homemade mac and cheese.

I got an e mail yesterday asking me how I felt out the war and about the Presidents planes to increase our numbers in the middle east. I had to take some time to really think about this and here it goes.

Here is what I KNOW:

1. this is still a volunteer service

2. going to war is part of being in the military

3. God HAS blessed America

4. I know that our troops are doing the best they can with what they have.

5. I know that our troops are just following orders

6. I know that we are part of the most powerful nation, and with that come responsibility.

7. I know that without our men and women in uniform we would not live in a free country today.

Here is what I feel:

1. I feel in my heart that I want everyone to come home.

2. I do not want to get any more calls from our friends saying that they are cold and are sleeping in trucks.

3. I do not want to hear about our friends being shot at. Thank God for body armor

4. I feel that we should have gone into Iraq with the greatest number of troops and just kicked the shit out of them and then allowed the troops to come home.

5. I feel that we should let the people of the middle east just fight it out. There has never been peace in the middle east and I don't think that there ever will be.

6. I feel that we are not the worlds band aid.

So as a former military wife and now the wife of a veteran, I am still confuse. I want to kick the shit out of war protesters, but I know that my husband fought for their freedom of speech. I know that one day soon, I will hold all of our friends and that until they come home I will continue to support them.

War is something that  young men do and that old men talk about.

brrrr its cold

I am just so cold! For some reason I cannot warm up at all. Maybe I should go start a fire, but then again the fire place is not in the same room I am. BRRRR

My husband does collect disability from the veterans administration and until about 4 months ago he was classified as 100% disabled. Then they reviewed his case and knocked him down to 90% which cut his disablity check by 50%! The veterans administration has a lot of issues. One of them being that it seems everyone wants to cut their spending. Which a real shame since we are now being flooded with disabled veterans and they are younger then ever. O.K. I will get off my soap box now.

I dug out this cookbook that has a lot of really old recipes and I found one for mac and cheese. I am going to give it a try tonight. I also a recipe for homemade ice cream that does not require any fancy equipment. I will have to give it a try.

I need to go to wal crap and get some stuff but I am just to cold to leave the house! I have been craving fresh orange juice, so I think I am going to go see how much a juicer is. Man fresh o.j. sounds good right now.

I really have nothing planned for today. I am thinking that I should just chill. Maybe work on a puzzle or just curl up and do some knitting. The house is so still and I love it. No one is calling or stopping by, so I can stay locked up in here! I am such a house rat most days.

Amber asked me for advice last night! I was so shocked. One of Ambers friend is being a "mean girl". This chick is 16 and is dating a 21 year old, but was leading another guy on and is now talking shit about Amber because Amber will not help her get either guy back! I told Amber that it would be best to just left this friendship go, and that this chick does not seem like such a good friend. Teenage drama.

I have not spoken to my mother since she left here and I have been thinking about that a lot lately. I am not sure what to say to her, so I have not called. I do not want to say something really mean just because I am still pissed off. I guess I should wait to call her then or wait and see if she ever calls me.

The department of Justice came into Rustys work yesterday and busted him for NOT having a weapon on him! LOL We thought that he only had to wear a weapon when he was transporting weapon and ammo. I guess we were wrong. So today he had to load up and leave the house looking like the lone ranger. I swear this is the perfect job for him!

Oh well, I am going to go do something productive today, I am just not sure what! LOL
