lets laugh

I must laugh at some of the things that my mom did to drive me nut. I must admit that I did things back that drove her up a wall!

One day we were getting ready to leave the lake and my mom told Ryan to go throw away his water bottle. I stopped Ryan and reminded him that we recycle and that I thought we should go pull all of the recyclables out of the trash cans. So we dug through trash on the beach.

I had stacks of boxes in the garage. My mom was looking at them and decided to go put them in the trash. I stopped her and I put them out front and then went and put an ad on craigslist for free moving boxes. I said " Why are we throwing things away that other people could use?"

My mom asked me if we had any popcorn. So I broke out the hot air popper. I got the dear in the head lights look and then my mom asked why I did not have microwave popcorn. I just explained that I use only organic popcorn. My mom is so not into organic.

My mom stayed in Nikki's room. Now Nikkis room was not unpacked and it was in a state of disaster. Whatever. We moved in a week ago and now Nikki is gone. My mother told me that I needed to get some curtains, some shelves...... oh the list was endless.

So we went to some yard sales. I was able to buy everything that my mom thought Nikki needed for about $10. Now that is recycling! My mom called me cheap.

My mom asked me what type of protein I was going to eat since I refused to eat the meat that she cooked. I opened up a bag of unsalted all organic sunflower seeds.

O.K. maybe I am a little out there and very set in my way. Yes I still dig through trash cans and pull the recycling out. That is just what I do.

O.K. so I don't use paper towels. I don't believe in buying something, to use only once and then to throw it away.

I am glad that my earth wise attitude got to her.

Well Nikki is having a blast! She spent a few days up in Pennsylvania, and then they went to the Ozarks. Today when she called she said that they were heading to Ohio to see the creation center.

So far this summer Nikki has gone rock climbing. She climber 70 feet straight up! Went cliff jumping, got in a mosh pit and is now looking forward to her next big adventure.

Who ever said that Christian children do not have fun? Nikki is on fire and is just loving the fact that she is out there doing so many things and yet is still spreading the word.

I must admit that I miss her. Every time she calls I want to tell her to come home. I want to hug her and fight with her. I want to do her laundry and I want to hear her stories.

I am just so proud of her. Nikki is my light.

can Nikki come to my house when she comes home? can I be an adopted aunt to her? she sounds like she is having a fantastic time; I know she drives you crazy at times, but I just love her passion for the Lord (I mailed the check Saturday)

you are too crazy with your antics with your mom; you better not come here to visit; I do recycle, but I do use paper towels, probably more than I should when picking up after Mr. Koda

You're my kind of gal. My daughter and I use to pick up aluminum cans on the sides of the streets to sell for charity. I do use paper towels but I'm so funny I stick one back and use it over. lol Paula

I do a lot of recycling myself and thinking up new ways all the time. Too bad everyone isn't as concerned about it. We rock ;-)

I do a lot of recycling...that's why it really fires me up when I put my recycle bin out at the curb and my neighbor comes over & puts bags of rotten food and things that do not belong in there, in my bin. We have to have them out by 6am, and it's either put them out the night before & take a chance on contraband stuff being put in there by the neighbors or setting the alarm and getting up before 6am and taking it out then.   I do buy paper towels however.  Most of the time, they get used more than once. Nikki sounds like she's definitely an inspiration to so many people and will be her whole life.

You sure pushed your Mom's buttons by just being yourself.  I have many things in common with you, especially with the recycling, I'm a freecycling Craig's list junkie myself.  We take our trash to the recycling center and always have.  No garbage pick up here by choice.

You're more radical than I am but perhaps you'll be  good influence.

I'm still eating meat though.  That was funny about the sunflower seeds.  I was smiling big on that one.

You are great! The world truly IS a better place because you are here in it. Not everyone can say that.
I am glad your daughter is doing so well. I know you miss her, but she'll be back and just think of all of the stories she will have to tell you! You're a great mom!

LOL that was funny. I love sunflowers and the seeds too. I should have taken a picture of Kyan's plants today they are like hyper growing. I told my daughter well they're not called mammoth sunflowers for nothing. I hope we get different colors I'd love to see some dark ones.
I'm so glad to hear that your daughter is having an awesome time. I know you're missing her so much, but I'm proud of you for pushing her to spread her wings and enjoy life.
Take care, Chrissie

I loved this story about how you used to drive your mom crazy but it was in a good way.  I mean when our kids rebel there ought to be a profound lesson there somewhere.  I considered becoming a vegetarian on a cattle ranch a lesson my dad needed to have happen to him.  Nobody else could have hit him as deep on the subject of being the savage. Your mom must have respected you for your stands in spite of herself!  Gerry

You and your mom are not on the same page at all!  I "love" when my mom comes and tells me all the things I need for the house.  Does she offer to pay for it too?  NO.  I love that you went yard saling and found what you needed!
