womens rights

I am sure that this entry will cause a lot of controversy, but I don't care. This is my journal and this is on my mind.

Over the past few day's I have been able to talk to Barry. We have talked about everything from his new baby, to this deployment.

Barry said that once they got into March Air reserve base and they got their busses load, the marines started to load onto the busses. That was when they were stopped. In Barry's words: "The male marines were crammed into two busses. We were sitting balls to ass and on the floor. There were five women with us, and they got a whole bus to themselves."

My comment back was "That pisses me off. These women scream about being treated as equals, but they can't ride in a cramped bus with a bunch of smelly guy's?"

I do not believe that women should serve in combative roles. I did not want a women in a hole with my husband. I did not want to have to wait for adrenalin to kick in so that she could move my husband out of harms way.

However if they want equal rights then they should be treated as equal across the board.

I know of guys that deploy as soon as their babies are born. So then why do women get to wait for six months? After six weeks your ass should be out of here.

If our boy's can sleep on the hood of a hum v then why can't the women?

I think that all of these women who scream for equal rights need to not speak for me.

I enjoy not changing my own oil. I enjoy not killing spiders, not cleaning up dog poop and not taking the smelly trash out.

I enjoy not having to do heavy lifting. I enjoy not changing my own tires.

I do however love cooking for my husband. I love being able to stay home and raise our children.... even if I want to kill them most day's. I enjoy doing my hair and putting on body spray and looking like a women. I enjoy making my husband his lunch and doing his laundry.

I enjoy so much about my life that I do not want equal rights.

I do not want my husband or any of the boys to treat me like one of the guys. I want to be tucked into bed when I don't feel good. I want a bag of chocolate just because. I want my husband to say you smell so good.

If I wanted to be treated like one of the guy's I would get slapped on the back, be forced to change my own oil, and I would have to sit ass to ball with a bunch of stinky marines.

No Thank you!

So to all the women out there who scream that they want equal rights but only when it suits them, I must say "NO THANK YOU".

I do not equal right's. I want my husband to continue me like the princess that I am.

I'm with you half and half, and yes I can do that I'm your hippie sister. I agree if women want equal rights in the military they can get crammed on that bus just like the next guy. I've worked  since I was 13, so yeah I was more than ready to lay down the equal rights deal and let Paul take over bills, as well as supporting me (well maybe not so easy, it took time to get used to). Right now that lovable guy is busting his ass working 3 jobs (he's a teachers aid, teaches guitar in the evenings and plays gigs all weekend with his band). Most days he doesn't even come through the door until 8:30 at night. Yet there is such a fierce pride in him, that's he's taking care of his home and me...I couldn't deny him that.

However I still wear the pants in the house when it comes to fixing things around here, painting, taking care of chewed up remnants of dead animals (with 4 outside cats there are more than I appreciate). There are parts of me that appreciate being a woman, then again there is that unrelenting independence that lets me do it my way, when I want. So 50/50....it would be totally boring if I agreed with you line for line wouldn't it? Love Ya Indigo

Dear Kelli,
what an eloquent essay! Bravo!:):):)
I do support your opinion Double up because our Marines (men) undergo soooooo much hardship! Why on earth have them crammed ina bus so that the girls ahve have a nice "carefree" ride????/h uh???do they think that the girls wil get harrassed or something????
Kelli I mean it you should print this one, save it, show it to Rusty and the guys!:)
I absolutely love the parts of it wherein you describe how you love to look after your husband! And of course how you don't want to change your tires or do heavy lifting! I totally agree! :) grin
Bravo!
hugs,natalie
p.s. this one ought to go to Delicious.

hey, as a fellow woman who doesn't pump her own gas, I totally agree with you!! totally ridiculous that 5 women got 1 bus to themselves when the men were crammed together on their bus; makes no sense at all!!

hope you enjoy your dinner out tonight :)

I agree that if women are in the service, they should have to endure what the men endure.

AMEN SISTER !!!  I do pump my own gas, mow the lawn and take out the garbage.  But I take my car to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. I don't want to do a man's job, never did and those gals that do...should do everything their male counterparts do. I wonder about these gals that are working as fire putter outters (you know what I mean).  Can they haul a disabled person out of a burning house like the men have had to do?  If they can't~they need to stay home & bake cookies.

I painted, mowed, trimmed etc. but not 'cause I had to 'cause I wanted to because I knew Mel worked hard. I think you're correct about being in the service. If the women want to be there they should not have special priviledges. Paula

Agreed if the women wanted to be in the military they should have to do everything that is expected of the men.  Nobody was forced into it

I used to think that I was one of the cowhands who rode like a girl.  There used to be a very tough girl who jockeyed for a while.  She got hurt so bad!  And had to go to horse training.  I thought well, most girls and women are not made to do the hard rough work that men do when they work with horses. They have the superior physical advantage when it comes to that work and most girls are just going to get hurt if they try to be their equals!  Gerry
