here we go

Here is Amber at prom. My baby is all grown up. They had their prom over on the coast, and I know they had a blast! It was the last big event of Ambers high school years.

Nikki had her sweet 16 birthday. This was a day of very mixed emotions.

I gave Nikki one of my pearl necklaces, a pearl braclet and a pair of Jade earrings. When the girls turn 16 I gave each of them some of my jewelry. I figure I would rather let them have it and wear it. I can always borrow it back.

Rusty got Nikki a new cross necklace, a Saint Christoper....he is the  saint of travelers... Rusty also got Nikki a hot pink usmc jacket that Nikki just loved.

When a girl in our family turns 16 they get the traditional gold maple leaf. This has been going on for three generations.

My father was able to place Ambers neckleace on her neck, but my dad is dead now. Nikki just cried when she got her maple leaf. Nikki did wear it for one day and now it is sitting in the safe.

Nikki is so mad at my dad for not being here. I am also mad at him. Nikki and I still need to sit down and cry. One of these days we will.

Also on Nikki's birthday Nikki got a phone call from this place called live offensively. Live offensively sells some very edgy Christian t shirts. Anyway Nikki applied to go tour the country with them. She would be crossing this country selling t shirts all the major Christian concerts and festivals.

Well they accepted Nikki! Nikki will be flying into PA. on June 7 and she will come home on June 30. Then she will have three days to pack and leave for Nicaragua. Nikki will be gone a total of 6 weeks this summer.

I am so excited for her and more then that I am so proud of her!

So yesterday I spent the day resting and I feel so much better today. So now it is back to my real life. I have laundry to do, dinner to cook, and a house to clean.

Yesterday I saw something moving in the grass, so I went out to see what the hell it was. Well here it is. Keep in mind this lizard has no tail! So I am wondering if one of the cats got it.

Now that I am out of sick bay and I am seeing all of these naked marines and sailors.... wow my heart is racing.

Today we are pulling into port. We will be pulling into Harwich today!

Louise has offered to show all of us around her home town. I don't think anyone will notice a group of crazy American ladies walking through the streets! LOL

Today we are going to tour Suffork. I have never been to the UK, so I am so excited to be here.

Tomorrow Lyn is going to give us a tour of her home town.

I need to add that Louise and her very handsome son's have offered to Amber in London. I just know that they will show her a good time!

I just love these photos, they have so many bright colors in them, the jacket, (great present) the balloons. I think Amber must look a lot like you. She looks very lovely in her dress, too.  Sounds like when there is a will there is a way when it comes to these trips.  Makes you wonder what those girls' lives will be like in years to come. I will bet adventuresome! Also makes sense that you are on a makebelieve trip around the world visiting journalists!  Gerry

Wow, prom, 16th birthday all in a few days!  What great pictures.  I love your tradition of passing down jewelry.  I only have 1 daughter and she has more jewlery than I do (thatnks to her husband).  And I'm sure when she was still in the home she managed to rummage thru mine and take what she wanted anyway.  She told me once (as an adult) that she borrowed something out of my jewelry box and when I figured out what it was, she'd give it back. She's still got what ever it is.  I've got my walking shoes on...will enjoy exploring the U.K.   Linda in WA

Amber looked beautiful for prom and Nikki absolutely gorgeous on her 16th birthday; that is neat you give them jewelry to wear now rather than after you die which of course won't be for years anyway

good for Nikki going to work for that company; that sounds like a great opportunity for her!!

you've done a great job raising them!! they are both great girls!!

glad you are feeling better too; okay, I missed something, where are the naked marines and sailors? were they what you were seeing when you were hallucinating when you were sick? I want to see some too!!!

The pictures are great!  Amber is so pretty (she looks like you!), and I love her dress!  Nikki is adorable, too, and looks very excited and happy to be getting her necklace.  I think that's a wonderful tradition!

Suffolk looks like a beautiful place to visit.  You American girls be good, now, and make sure you leave a good impression on those Britons!

Hello I just wanted to say how much I appreciate what any animal foster care provider does. I foster dogs and currently have 13 looking for homes.  most of mine just need to gain weight and be medicated.  Puppies always need shots and socialization. Almost all of my foster pups end up making a great pet for someone.  I have a 20 acre farm and lots of love for them.
