go fly a kite!

Today has turned out to be a very nice day, but it did not start out that way!

My day started by Butter bolting out bed and barking. He was barking at our friend Dustin who game to pick Amber up. Once we got Amber all dressed for her paint ball trip, it hit Rusty. He said " some marine just picked up my daughter!" marines going out with our daughters is a big no no. Now we know that nothing is going on, but Rusty just can't handle the fact that his daughter is old enough to date marines!

After I pour a few cups of coffee in me, I got busy and cleaned up the house a little bit. Then Rusty and I were going to take Ryan down to base to go fishing and I was going to fly my kite.

So we get to base and we get the fishing permit, only to find out that we cannot fish on the beach! What the heck? I wanted to fish in the ocean and then I was going to go fly my kite. Fine.

We ended driving all the way back through base to go fishing down at the lake. Well I was not happy. I had spent my whole life fishing in lakes. I started looking around for an open field so that I could fly the kite. Damn it! Those children are having a birthday party in the open field.

Once the children left I ran over to the field to claim it as mine! I must say that it was nice and windy, so I had no problem getting the kite up. I so loved watching the kite soar! My kite is of a dragon fly and it looked so good up there, if I do say so myself. A lot of people stopped to look at the kite. I guess people just don't fly kites any more?

Rusty said he and Ryan had a good day. I am glad. I think Ryan has been feeling a little neglected lately. So I am glad that Ryan got some one on one time with his dad.

Tonight Dustin is cooking dinner, so I am not sure what is on the menu. I sure it will be good as long as I do not have to cook and clean up from it!

OH! the count down has begun. In exactly 7 day 3 more of our friends will be home! I am so happy. Today I even went and bought a welcome mat that says "welcome home marines!"

I going to go take a nap.

Here is a link to a kite almost like mine. My kite is Purple.

Funny you mentioned flying a kite just this week I was thinking about flying a kite. If we get to meet up  with my son on the Oregon coast this summer I am going to bring kites to fly on the beach. I don't own a kite right now so am interested in checking out the link you have. I am glad that you enjoyed flying the kite and that father and son got some one on one time.

Oh, I am so glad to hear about your kite flying.  Now you have inspired me.  I used to force Dante, my grandson, to fly kites.  Then my kite store went out of business and I bought this huge kite for half price, and it has never been flown.  If you were here we could go fly kites right up the road to this park.  I think I will get Doc to go with me and fly this kite and then I will have him take a photo!   Gerry
